It's on display in the Joshua Tree Inn, where the father of cosmic country rock passed away from an overdose. He was 26 only, a few weeks short of being part of club 27. #GramParsons #americanpilgrimages #PelerinagesAmericains #club27 #27club #musicpilgrimage #JoshuaTreeinn #california #flyingburritobrothers #thebyrds #sweetheartoftherodeo #countryrock A post shared by Alex Gra (@alexgrardel) on Jan 21, 2020 at 10:51am PST

View this post on Instagram #GrandTheftParsons legend took place here, in #JoshuaTree. Musician Gram Parsons and his manager Phil Kaufman liked this place so much that they made a pact: "the first one of us who dies will be cremated here". Gram Parsons died first, in 1973. Gram's family made arrangements for Gram to be buried in Louisiana. But Phil, drunk, decided to fulfill the pact. With the help of a friend's hearse, he stole Gram's body and drove to Cap Rock to cremate Gram here – with limited success. Phil still takes Gram fans on a "Philgrimage" to Cap Rock. #Legend #americanpilgrimages #PelerinagesAmericains #GramParsons #thebyrds #flyingburritobrothers #musicpilgrimage #philkaufman #caprock #club27 #27club #America #travel #usa #AmericanHistory #joshuatreenationalpark #nofilter A post shared by Alex Gra (@alexgrardel) on Jan 21, 2020 at 3:15pm PST
