#AnsweringTheCall. Among pilgrims at Thoreau's original #cabin site in #Walden #Pond, I met Karen, an artist from Colombia. When I asked her if she came to #WaldenPond for #Thoreau, she answered: "yes, for a few weeks he has been calling me. I'm definitely here for Thoreau". Karen put stones on top of one another to create a #cairn and "leave a little bit of her in this area" (picture 2). She did want to do a 3D cairn for the 3 dimensions that are "the heart, the soul and the art". Other cairns are made by people in the woods, where #HenryDavidThoreau stayed (picture 3) "because (he) wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if (he) could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when (he) came to die, discover that (he) had not lived" (extract from Walden, or #LifeInTheWoods) #americanpilgrimages #PelerinagesAmericains #usa #transcendentalism

#LifeInTheWoods. This is the original site of #Thoreau's #cabin, in #Walden. As Tim (picture 2) said, "coming here every week is a rite for me, a religious experience. You feel so much connected to nature". He believes in Thoreau's #transcendentalism. #HenryDavidThoreau chose a beautiful spot to live in a #hut, and I was fortunate to experience it at the BEST time of the year. I slept in the #woods, a few meters away from the cabin, to get a feeling of what he lived here, on my own #pilgrimage. His cabin was very tiny, as is the replica (picture 3). But focusing on important things requires #minimalism rather than #materialism.
